If you have 2-Step Verification (2FA) enabled on your Gmail account and want to use it for Flxpoint email connections (e.g., for custom alerts), you must create and use a Google App Password instead of your regular Gmail password.
When You Need an App Password
You need an App Password if:
- Your Gmail account has 2-Step Verification enabled.
- You get a “password incorrect” error when testing the email connection.
- Your password is not 16 characters long (Google app passwords are always 16 characters).
Note: If you do not want to use an app password, you can use the Flxpoint email option for custom alerts instead.
How to Create a Google App Password
- Turn on 2-Step Verification in your Google Account (if not already enabled).
- Go to your Google App Passwords page.
- Sign in to your Google account.
- Under Select app, choose Other (Custom name) and enter a name (e.g., “Flxpoint Email”).
- Click Generate.
- Copy the 16-character password Google provides.
- Keep it somewhere secure. You will not see it again.
How to Use the App Password in Flxpoint
- In Flxpoint, go to Settings > Email Connection.
- Enter your Gmail address and display name.
- In the Password field, paste the 16-character app password (not your regular Gmail password).

587
-
Connection Type:
TLS
-

Troubleshooting
No option to create an app password?
- Make sure your 2-Step Verification is not set up only for security keys.
- Make sure Advanced Protection is not enabled.
If errors persist, try using the Flxpoint Email option for sending custom alerts.
