SEMA Data

SEMA Data with Flxpoint is configured using an FTP connection to efficiently import automotive product data through the Get Inventory Primary (GIP) integration. This setup enables you to access standardized and accurate product information, including fitment details, specifications, and pricing, directly into your Flxpoint account for precise inventory management.

SEMA Data is an automotive aftermarket data provider that simplifies parts data management, ensuring accurate product attributes, fitment details, and images. Through a direct FTP export and Flxpoint’s integration, SEMA Data can deliver up-to-date product information so you can manage automotive listings effortlessly.

How To Connect

  • Navigate to Sources from the left-hand menu and click the + icon in the top-left corner.
  • Enter a Source Name, then choose Data Source as the source type.
  • Select Sema as the integration and follow the prompts.
  • Login to your SEMA Data account and create a custom export template under “Custom Export Builder.”
  • Configure the export as Pipe Delimited (not comma-delimited).
  • Under Global Exports, create a new Export Profile and set your FTP details (host, port, username, password).
  • Schedule the export (e.g., weekly at 2:00 PM). Plan to run your Flxpoint Get Inventory [Primary] ~30 minutes later.

Product Operations

The Get Inventory [Primary] integration handles the bulk of your automotive product data: part numbers, brand IDs, descriptions, attributes (e.g., fitment, images), and stock levels.

Get Inventory [Primary]

SEMA Data can be configured as a Product Data Source in Flxpoint, retrieving updated product information over FTP, SFTP, or FTPS. This includes:

  • Automotive part details (Part Number, Brand, Fitment attributes, etc.)
  • Product images (Primary, Additional, Logo, Installation Instructions)
  • Pricing (if included in your SEMA template
  • Inventory quantities across multiple brand file

Pipe Delimited Files are recommended for best compatibility (avoid comma-delimited).

FTP Connection Steps in Flxpoint:

  1. Create a New Connection (e.g. “New Sema Connection”) and specify:
    • FTP Protocol (FTP, SFTP, Implicit FTPS, or Explicit FTPS)
    • FTP Host & Port
    • FTP Username & Password
    • Optional: Maintain Constant Connection, Unbuffered Private Data Channel, etc.
  1. Test Connection to ensure it can retrieve the exported files.
  2. Configure which .txt or .zip file(s) to pull. SEMA may offer multiple brand files or a single compressed .zip.
  3. Map all available fields (e.g., Part Number, Brand ID, Base Item Number, GTIN) so Flxpoint can process them correctly.

Scheduling the Operation: Plan your SEMA “Global Export” schedule and your Flxpoint Get Inventory [Primary] run. For example, if the export is weekly at 2:00 PM EST every Tuesday, you might schedule the Flxpoint operation for 2:30 PM to allow time for SEMA’s data to finalize.

Troubleshooting:

  • Common Error #1 – Missing or mislabeled columns in the feed
    • Resolution – Verify column names match exactly what Flxpoint expects (e.g., “Part Number” vs “PartNumber”)
  • Common Error #2 – Connection issues pulling the file
    • Resolution – Confirm FTP credentials, ensure the correct remote directory (e.g., /SEMA_Test/), and check firewall or SEMA’s access settings
