Building Listings

Overview

After product variants have been built, listings must then be built for each respective channel.

Building listings allows you to:

  • Choose subsets of product variants to go to each individual channel
  • Apply additional content modifications for each channel
  • Create a static record of content for each individual channel that is not immediately modified, even if variant data is changed afterward
Before You Get Started

To build listings, you must first create a channel for these listings to be associated with.

Creating a Mapping Template

Similar to how we build our product variants, the first thing we need to do is create a new mapping template for this operation. You will already have a default mapping template built for you, which you'll see once you click "Create Listings".

Another way to do this is, visit:

Settings → Mapping → Templates → Builders → Listing Builder

Create a new template by clicking Generate Default Template or manually creating one.

This mapping template will determine how product variant data flows into your listings.

Choosing Product Variants

Once a mapping template is created, you must then choose which product variants you wish to publish or sync to a particular channel.

To do this, visit the Product Catalog tab and select the relevant product variants and/or use filter criteria to do a bulk selection.

Note

You can build listings from the variant or the parent level. If you build them from the variant level, Flxpoint will only load the specific variants that you select.

If you load from the parent level, Flxpoint will load all the associated variants to that parent.

Building Listings

Once you've chosen the product variants you'd like to create and are prepared to initiate the build, click the Create Listings button in the top right, which will open a fly-out to review this action.

The Create Listings fly out will:

  • Require selecting a specific channel
  • Require a mapping template to understand how to map product variant to listing data
  • Recommend a link process after they have been built (see Linking Listings)

Once this has been reviewed and confirmed, clicking Create Listings will start this build process in the background.

  • To note, each channel will be applied with the most recent Mapping Template used, unless it's the first time**—**in which case it will use the default Mapping Template.
Building for Multiple Channels

If a product is being built on channels A, B, and C, and A and B are finished but C is not, then it will still show as being built.

Only after ALL selected channels have finished building, it will show as Linked to All Channels instead of Building.

Rebuilding Listings

Rebuilding listings allows the user to overwrite product content on the listing variant. Rebuilding will take any product variants that are already linked to a listing and allow you to do the following:

  • Update data if it's changed since you initially built the listings
  • Choose different channel or field level priorities to adjust how the data maps into your channels

Rebuilding listings is very similar to how you build a listing, but it will be done from the Channel Listings tab. You will need to select the listing variants you would like to rebuild, then select Actions → Re-Build

From this screen, you will see a few options, such as:

  • Re-build using the mapping template, each listing was previously built with
  • Select a specific mapping template
  • Would you like to also rebuild the parents of these variants (if you are selecting from the Variants view)
