Keeping a File Source Up to Date: Schedules and Manual File Upload

November 4, 2026

Summary

Flxpoint reads a source's inventory file when its Get Inventory runs, not when the file arrives. How to schedule it, what happens when the file has not changed, and how to run a file by hand.

A source that sends inventory as a file (FTP or SFTP, a web link, a Google Sheet, an email inbox, or a file you upload) is updated when its Get Inventory operation runs. Nothing starts an import the moment a new file arrives. A run happens on its schedule, when you click Run Integration, or when you use Manual File Upload.

  1. Open Sources (building icon), click the gear icon on the source and open Integrations.
  2. Open Get Inventory [Secondary] for quantity and price updates, or Get Inventory [Primary] for the full product file.
  3. In Automate, turn Scheduled on, choose the Day and the Time, and click Update.

Time can be a Specific Time (Run At Hour and Run At Minute) or a repeat: Every Hour, 30, 15, 10 or 5 Minutes. Some integrations allow a longer minimum. Times are in UTC.

  • The newest file changed within Download Files Modified in the Last X Days (14 days when blank).
  • If the file has not changed, it is read again; items that already match are counted as unchanged and left alone.
  • On FTP and SFTP connections, File Action can delete or move the file after it is read, so the next run only sees new files.
  • An email connection reads only unread emails from the sender set in Email From.
  1. Open the operation and click Manual File Upload.
  2. Click Upload and pick a .xlsx, .csv, .tsv or .txt file.
  3. Click Run File. Use Reset to pick another file.

It runs once, right away, with the operation's own settings and mapping. Your saved connection does not change.

Can the import start as soon as my supplier drops a file?

No. The closest is a frequent schedule on Get Inventory [Secondary]. For updates the moment your data changes, a developer can push inventory through the Flxpoint API instead.

Where do I change where the file comes from?

On the operation, click Edit and use Connect an Integration.
