Channel Shipping Mappings

July 20, 2026

Summary

Channel shipping mappings translate the shipping option a customer selected on a sales channel into a central shipping policy so the order can be routed and fulfilled correctly.

Channel shipping mappings translate the shipping option a customer picked on your sales channel into one of your central shipping policies, so the order can be routed and fulfilled correctly.

  • Translate customer choice — map channel text like “4-7 business days” to a policy like “Standard”.
  • Feed the policy layer — once mapped, any source method under that policy becomes eligible during routing.
  • Many texts, one policy — you can point multiple channel texts at the same policy.
  • Flag the unknown — orders with unmapped or missing shipping text are held until you assign them.
  1. Order imported — the order arrives carrying channel shipping text, for example “4-7 business days”.
  2. Text recognized — Flxpoint matches that text to a channel shipping mapping name.
  3. Policy associated — per the mapping, the order is associated to a policy, for example “Standard”.
  4. Eligible methods considered — during routing, any source shipping method mapped to that policy is treated as eligible.

Example mapping: “4-7 business days” → “Standard”

When an incoming order is missing shipping text, or has text not associated with any policy, Flxpoint flags the order with an Unmapped Channel Method notification.

  1. Open Shipping Management: Settings → Orders → Shipping Management.
  2. Click Assign to Policy and pick the target policy from the dropdown. Add a new policy first if you need one.
  3. Click Set to map that channel method to the policy.
Note: Assigning an unmapped channel method to a policy applies to all orders currently on hold for that same method, not just the one you are looking at.
Note: Different spellings count as different methods. If you have both “N/A” and “NA”, you must assign each variation to a policy on its own.
Note: Any text not associated with a policy will flag the order. Keep mappings current as channels add new shipping options.

A first order sits On Hold for an unmapped shipping method

This is the most common first-order snag. Map the channel method to a policy via Assign to Policy. The order can still need a valid source route and a source method under that policy before it fully processes.

Orders keep getting held even though I mapped the method once

Check for text variations (extra spaces, casing, “N/A” vs “NA”). Each distinct string is its own unmapped method and must be assigned separately.

Can several channel options share one policy?

Yes. You can add more than one channel shipping text to the same policy — for example both “Economy” and “4-7 business days” mapped to “Standard”.

Where do I manage these mappings?

In Shipping Management (Settings → Orders → Shipping Management), alongside shipping policies and source shipping methods.

What happens if a channel sends no shipping text at all?

The order is flagged as an unmapped channel method (missing text) and held until you assign it to a policy.
