Summary
Core terminology for how Flxpoint connects to sources, channels, and resellers, plus the core functions (Get Inventory Primary, Get Orders) and the automation and pricing tools around them.
Overview
These are the core terms for how Flxpoint connects to the outside world: where inventory comes from (Sources), where you sell (Channels and Resellers), and the functions that move data in and out (Get Inventory Primary, Get Orders) along with the automation and pricing tools around them.
- Source: where inventory and fulfillment data come from.
- Channel: where you list products and receive orders.
- Reseller: a B2B retailer that sells your products.
- Get functions: Get Inventory Primary and Get Orders move data in.
Connection types
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Source | The origin of inventory and fulfillment data: it feeds inventory, pricing, and availability in; processes FRs and orders; sends tracking; and can provide invoices. Can be FTP flat files, EDI 846, API, email attachments, HTTP links, or POS. |
| Channel | A sales platform or marketplace that receives product data to build listings, sends orders to Flxpoint, and receives tracking (e.g. Shopify, BigCommerce, Amazon, Walmart, or custom). |
| Reseller | A retailer that sells your products, usually in a B2B workflow, listing your items on their own store or marketplace. |
Core functions
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Get Inventory Primary | The first step importing products from a source; it establishes the Source Inventory stage and keeps inventory synced. |
| Get Orders | Automatically retrieves channel orders into Flxpoint for routing, then sends tracking back to the channel. |
| Actions | Create Listings, Publish Listings, Update Products, Assign Inventory. |
| Edits | Pause/Unpause Listings, Hide/Unhide Listings, Delete Listings. |
| Automation Rules / Workflow Automation | Triggers and multi-step processes that run without manual work. |
| Price Modifiers / Custom Pricing Fields | Per-channel markups, discounts, or tailored pricing structures. |
Good to know
Note: A Source is not just an inventory feed: it also receives the fulfillment requests you route to it and sends back shipment tracking, and can return invoices for reconciliation.
Note: SKUs enter their lifecycle at the Source Inventory stage via Get Inventory Primary. Nothing exists in the Product Catalog until you build from here.
Note: Delete Listings removes a listing from Flxpoint and the channel. Use Pause or Hide instead when you only want to stop updates or visibility.
