Templates — mapping and building templates shape data between stages.
Workflows — areas where rules manipulate data at each step.
Rules — IF/THEN logic that changes data.
Shipping chain — mappings to policies to methods.

TEMPLATES AND CUSTOMIZATIONS

Term	Meaning
Mapping Template	Configures/customizes data as it moves through Flxpoint (e.g. map the UPC into the SKU field).
Mapping Set	Converts a known value to a new one (e.g. "Food and Beverage" to "Food & Beverage"), applied inside a mapping template.
Building Template	Runs between stages: a Product Building Template (Source Inventory to Catalog) and a Listing Builder Template (Catalog to Listings); no changes by default.
Customizations	Any change to a SKU at the Product Catalog or Channel Listings stage; Bulk Customization uploads a spreadsheet keyed on Parent SKU.

AUTOMATION

Term	Meaning
Workflows	Where data is manipulated: Post Mapping, Order Importing, Order Routing, PO/FR Strategy, and Pricing and Quantity.
Rules	IF/THEN logic inside a workflow (e.g. IF SKU equals X, THEN subtract 5 from quantity).
Actions	The context-sensitive Action Menu; an Order shows Generate POs, a PO shows Process POs.
Filters	Sort inventory, products, listings, and orders; prebuilt, saved, or one-time.
Bundles (Kitting)	Sell a group of products as one SKU; bundle quantity is derived from component availability.

THE SHIPPING MAPPING CHAIN

Layer	Role
Shipping Mapping	Set per channel; interprets the channel’s shipping text (e.g. Standard, Expedited).
Shipping Policy	The middle layer a mapping points to, connecting channel text to a method.
Shipping Method	The per-supplier instruction (e.g. UPS Ground) the policy routes to.

GOOD TO KNOW

Note: Building templates make no changes by default. A Product Building Template and Listing Builder Template pass data through unchanged unless you add rules — they are hooks for optional adjustments between stages.

Note: A Mapping Template decides which field goes where; a Mapping Set translates specific values, and is applied inside a template.

Note: Bundle quantity follows the scarcest component. For a bundle of 2x SKU A and 3x SKU B, the available bundle quantity is limited by whichever component runs out first.

Note: Shipping data flows mapping to policy to method. Channel shipping text hits a Shipping Mapping, which points to a Shipping Policy, which routes to a per-supplier Shipping Method. A break anywhere in that chain leaves an order without a valid method.

What is the difference between a Mapping Template and a Mapping Set?

A template maps fields (source data to Flxpoint fields); a set translates values (one known value to another) and is used within a template.

Where do rules actually run?

Inside workflows: Post Mapping, Order Importing, Order Routing, PO/FR Strategy, and Pricing and Quantity.

How does a bundle’s quantity get calculated?

From its components — the bundle can only be as available as the scarcest required component allows.

How does shipping get from a channel to a supplier?

Channel shipping text maps to a Shipping Mapping, which points to a Shipping Policy, which routes to the correct Shipping Method for each supplier.
