Automotive Industry and Flxpoint
Summary
Flxpoint's automotive support is built around large SKU counts, overlapping supplier data, and vehicle fitment — it merges suppliers on a Brand plus MPN key and pairs with the ConverMax plugin for Year-Make-Model search. Clean Brand and MPN data is what makes both correct merging and fitment work.
Flxpoint's automotive support is built around three things that make parts selling hard: large SKU counts, product data that overlaps across suppliers, and vehicle fitment. It connects the major automotive distributors, merges overlapping supplier inventory using a Brand plus Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) key, and pairs with the ConverMax plugin to add Year-Make-Model search to your storefront.
The single most important idea to carry into setup is that clean Brand and MPN data is what makes both correct merging and fitment work.
How do I add Year-Make-Model fitment search to my store? Flxpoint pairs with the ConverMax plugin for fitment on stores such as Shopify and BigCommerce. List your products with MPNs and Brand identifiers, then contact ConverMax to set up a fitment table for your catalog. Once the plugin is installed and synced, Year-Make-Model search works on your store.
How does Flxpoint keep products from different suppliers from merging incorrectly? It builds a unique RefID from Brand Name plus Manufacturer Part Number. Because Brand is part of the key, two products that happen to share the same MPN across suppliers are kept separate rather than merged, which keeps the catalog clean and avoids duplicate listings.
Vehicle fitment will not attach on eBay Motors. Reported when auto-parts listings are published under generic eBay categories rather than eBay Motors Parts & Accessories categories, so a fitment tool (for example, MyFitment) reports the category as invalid and refuses to add Year/Make/Model compatibility. Map the listings to eBay Motors Parts & Accessories category IDs so the fitment tool can attach compatibility, and use a revise/update publish so existing listings are not duplicated.
Same SKU carried by two suppliers pulls the wrong cost or quantity. When a part is carried by more than one source, cost or inventory can come from the unintended supplier. Confirm Brand and MPN are populated so the RefID merges correctly, then review your source priority so the intended supplier's cost and quantity win.
Bulk fitment data needs to be mapped to existing SKUs. Reported when a seller has a manual Part-Number-to-Fitment file and needs it applied to their catalog. Fitment data is matched to products by MPN and Brand; align your file on those fields before mapping so each row lands on the right SKU.
