Why an order shows Cannot Be Routed or lands On Hold, and the settings that most often cause it. While an order is on hold, all actions on it are paused until the hold is released.

  • Single Source Routing — the whole order must be fulfillable from one source, or it holds.
  • Amazon compliance — an Amazon item from a source without compliance enabled holds the order. This setting only matters when an Amazon channel is configured — without one, enabling it is not required.
  • Order on hold — a hold freezes every action on the order until it is released.
  • Availability and linking — out-of-stock or unlinked inventory is the most common trigger.
ReasonWhat it meansWhere to check
Item out of stockAn item has no available quantity, which halts routingThe SKU’s available quantity / linked inventory
Importing workflowAn import rule is placing orders on holdYour importing workflow rules
Duplicate order protectionOrder matches another (same address, timeframe, items) and is flagged as a potential duplicateDuplicate Order Protection setting
Item in a Not Managed stateThe order imported with a SKU that is not present in FlxpointThe order’s line items / catalog
Source not in routing groupAn item’s source is not connected to a routing groupThe routing group’s sources
Needs shipping policyNo shipping policy, so Flxpoint cannot determine the shipping methodThe order’s shipping policy
Note: When Single Source Routing is enabled, the entire order must be fulfillable from a single source. If that condition is not met, the order is put on hold.
Note: Amazon compliance is per source. If an Amazon order includes an item from a source that does not have the Amazon compliance rule turned on, the order holds.

“Order Status changed to On Hold because there are no possible ways to fulfill this entire order. Products out of stock {SKU}”

The listed SKU has no available quantity or no linked inventory. Confirm the product has linked inventory with quantity available, or manually create a fulfillment request for just the in-stock items.

“Order Cannot Be Routed” — shipping policy not being pulled through

The order holds because no shipping policy is assigned, so Flxpoint has no shipping method to use. Assign a shipping policy that covers the order’s items, then re-route.

“Order Cannot Be Routed : null” email with no order number

The notification arrives with no valid order number and no findable order on hold. This usually points to a stuck or repeatedly-notifying item rather than a specific current order; check for held orders and any archived or Not Managed items instead of the null reference.

Order stuck on hold even though stock looks available

Availability is only one trigger. Check the other causes: a SKU in a Not Managed state, a source missing from the routing group, an importing workflow rule, or duplicate order protection.

The item is in stock but the order still holds. Why?

Stock is only one of several triggers. An order can also hold for a missing shipping policy, a SKU in a Not Managed state, a source that is not in the routing group, an importing rule, or duplicate order protection.

How do I release an order that is on hold when the product is available?

Navigate to Order Actions → Release Hold.
