Routing Groups

Summary
A routing group is the set of eligible sources, priority rules, and fallback behavior applied when Flxpoint generates fulfillment requests; every account needs one default group, with additional groups only for situations that require different routing logic.
OVERVIEW
A routing group is a set of routing priorities, eligible sources, and decisions for what to do if an order cannot be routed. Groups are applied when fulfillment requests are generated. Every account must have a default group that catches all orders; additional groups let you handle specific situations, such as an International group or an East/West coast group.
- Eligible sources — enable or disable which sources this group may fulfill from.
- Priority order — add, order, and remove the routing priorities for the group.
- Address override — optionally override the shipping address for sources in the group.
- Suppress tracking — optionally suppress tracking for specific sources in the group.
GUIDED SETUP FOR A NEW GROUP
The guided setup walks through three steps in order:
- Preferred warehouse — choose an internal warehouse Flxpoint always tries first when it has stock.
- Primary routing strategy — Lowest Cost plus Fewest Sources is the default, minimizing cost and split shipments.
- Source priority — a tiebreaker list; reorder and enable/disable sources to decide who wins when sources tie.

IMPORTANT NOTES
Note: There must be a default group that all orders route to. Create additional groups only when you need different behavior for specific situations, then use a workflow rule to apply the right group per order.
Note: An advanced (legacy) mode is available if you want the advanced view or do not see the priority you need in the guided setup — you can skip the guided flow and build routing logic manually.
Note: Use the Routing Completed Workflow to catch split orders. After FR/FOs are generated, you can run a workflow to leave them in an Unprocessed state for review rather than auto-processing — for example, hold for review when more than two fulfillment requests are created, so you can confirm cost is minimized before sending.
COMMON ISSUES
- "No sources for products {...} are enabled in the selected routing group" even though items are linked and in stock — the hold means the group has no enabled source that can fulfill that product, not necessarily that stock is missing. Open the routing group and confirm the source holding that inventory is enabled in this group, and that the product’s inventory is linked to a source the group includes.
- Order stuck On Hold for an out-of-stock item despite backorders being allowed — if a line item shows available 0 and the order still holds even with backorders enabled, the backorder setting is most likely not applied at the level the routing check reads. Confirm where backorders are enabled (source, mapping template, or routing rule) so the group can route the order instead of holding it on that item.

- Why do I need a default routing group? Every order needs somewhere to route. The default group guarantees a fallback so no order is left without a routing path.
- When should I create additional routing groups? When a subset of orders needs different behavior, such as international orders or coast-specific sourcing. Use a workflow rule to apply the alternate group to those orders.
- What does the preferred warehouse setting do? It tells Flxpoint to try fulfilling from your chosen internal warehouse first when it has stock, before considering other sources under the group’s priorities.
