Routing Priorities

Summary
Routing priorities are the ordered rules Flxpoint evaluates top to bottom within a routing group to decide which eligible source fulfills an order.
OVERVIEW
Routing priorities are the ordered list of rules Flxpoint evaluates from top to bottom once an order is being routed. If several sources remain after a rule, evaluation continues to the next rule for those sources only. They are configured under Settings → Orders → Routing, within a routing group.
THE PRIORITIES

| Single Fulfillment Request | Fulfill the entire order from one source when possible. If Required and no single-source solution exists, the order is held for manual intervention. |
| Lowest Cost | Compares total cost (item cost, estimated dropship fee, estimated shipping) and picks the cheapest. A margin lets near-cost sources continue to the next rule. |
| Preferred Source(s) | Routes to your ranked preferred sources in order; drag to reorder. Falls to the next preferred source if the top one cannot fulfill. |
| Has Shipping Policy Mapped | Prefers or requires sources that have a shipping method mapped to the order’s shipping policy. |
| Closest / Closest Margin | Chooses the nearest source by ZIP-based distance within a defined margin. US only, and the source address must be configured. |
IMPORTANT NOTES
Note: When a rule is set to Preferred and no source matches, Flxpoint moves to the next rule. When it is Required and no source matches, the order is placed on hold and a notification is sent for manual intervention.
Note: With no margin on Lowest Cost, the single cheapest source is selected and routing completes (unless there is an exact tie to the penny). With a margin set, every source within that dollar or percentage margin of the cheapest continues to the next rule.
Note: The enabled, address override, and suppress tracking toggles beside preferred sources are global to routing. A disabled source is not considered by any rule, not just the preferred sources rule. Closest also requires a US source address to be configured.
COMMON ISSUES
- An order routed to the internal warehouse without enough stock instead of a source that had it — a higher priority (for example a preferred warehouse or preferred source) can win before a lower rule would have picked the in-stock source. Review the order’s routing logs, then reorder the priorities or adjust source eligibility so availability is respected before preference.
- Order held with a Required rule and no eligible source — a Required rule that finds no match will hold the order for manual intervention by design. If that is too strict, switch the rule to Preferred so routing continues to the next rule instead of holding.

- What is the difference between Preferred and Required? Preferred keeps routing when no source matches the rule; Required stops and holds the order for manual review when no source matches.
- How does the Lowest Cost margin work? Without a margin, only the single cheapest source proceeds. With a margin (dollar or percentage), any source whose cost is within that margin of the cheapest continues to the next rule, letting a later rule break the tie.
- Why did my order route to a farther or pricier source? A higher priority in the list decided the source before cost or distance was considered. Priorities are evaluated top to bottom, so reorder them if cost or proximity should win first.
