Using Owned Inventory
Summary
How to manage stock held in your own Internal Warehouse: replenish it with a Stocking Manifest, and keep its quantity accurate by syncing from an integration/API or by manually receiving stock.
Owned Inventory lets you manage stock held in your own Internal Warehouse: replenish it with a Stocking Manifest, and keep its quantity accurate by syncing from an integration/API or by manually receiving stock. Only an Internal Warehouse source is eligible for stock replenishment.
- Internal Warehouse — owned stock lives on a source with the Internal Warehouse source type.
- Replenish via manifest — build a Stocking Manifest to generate stocking POs and transfer orders.
- Sync quantity — update quantity via Get Inventory Primary/Secondary or the API.
- Or commit stock — use Committed Stock to hold quantity when you cannot sync often.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Internal Warehouse source | At least one source with the source type set to Internal Warehouse. |
| Imported Source Inventory | Import via Get Inventory Primary so Flxpoint has a record of each SKU. |
| Eligible Products | Product Catalog built with variants that qualify for stocking (see below). |
What makes a variant eligible for stocking
| Eligibility rule | Meaning |
|---|---|
| From an Internal Warehouse | The variant is connected to an internal-warehouse source. |
| Active (not Archived) | Archived variants are not eligible. |
| Linked with another source | The product variant has more than one inventory variant (fulfillable by the warehouse and at least one other source). |
Two ways to manage quantity
| Method | When to use |
|---|---|
| Sync via integration or API | You can upload or integrate quantity on a regular basis (Get Inventory Primary/Secondary, or a POST/PUT API call). |
| Manually adjust and commit stock | You cannot import quantity and need to enter what was received from a Stocking FR or Transfer Order. |
Orders routed to the internal warehouse when it was out of stock
Routing uses the warehouse’s available quantity, so a stale count sends it orders it cannot fill. Keep the internal warehouse quantity accurate — sync it via integration/API, or use Committed Stock so open orders decrement on-hand quantity.
What is Owned Inventory?
Stock you hold in your own Internal Warehouse and manage inside Flxpoint — replenished with Stocking Manifests and kept current by syncing or manually receiving quantity.
What do I need before I can stock an internal warehouse?
An Internal Warehouse source, imported Source Inventory, and a Product Catalog of Eligible Products (active, internal-warehouse variants linked alongside at least one other source).
How do I keep my owned quantity accurate?
Sync it via Get Inventory Primary/Secondary or the API, or manually receive stock from your Stocking FRs/Transfer Orders and use Committed Stock to decrement on-hand as orders come in.
Why did a SKU get Archived after my upload?
With Archiving enabled, uploading a file that omits existing SKUs archives them. Disable Archiving if you are only uploading new SKUs.
