Configuring Costs and Price Rules

July 20, 2026

Summary

This step sets how Flxpoint derives cost and quantity when a variant has multiple sources (aggregate pricing rules), then how it shapes the final list price (the global pricing workflow). Run a sync after any rule change so existing variants pick up the new values.

ValueOptionsExample (source A $12.99 / qty 10, source B $9.99 / qty 2)
PriceLowest, Highest, AverageLowest $9.99, Highest $12.99, Average $11.49
QuantityLowest, Highest, Average, SumLowest 2, Highest 10, Average 6, Sum 12
Out-of-StockOmit out-of-stock sourcesA depleted source drops out of the calculation
FieldWhat it does
Default List PriceInitial list price when a listing is built. Starts from the variant's estimated cost; can be mapped to MSRP, MAP, or a source list price
MAPRules to modify the minimum advertised price
MSRPRules to modify the manufacturer suggested retail price
QuantityRules to modify quantity
Note: Run a sync after changing rules. New aggregate or workflow rules only apply the next time a variant's price or quantity updates. Run a sync so existing variants recalculate immediately.
Note: Out-of-Stock changes the math live. With Ignore Out of Stock on, a depleted source drops out, so cost and quantity shift to the remaining in-stock sources.
Note: Default List Price seeds from cost. It begins as the variant's estimated cost. Map it to MSRP, MAP, or another field if you do not want cost-based starting prices.
Note: Rules set the default for future builds. Global workflow values apply to listings built from that point forward — existing listings need a rebuild or sync to pick them up.

Prices are not updating on the sales channel. The channel price can differ from Flxpoint's Default List Price when the channel sync has not run or the listing price is locked. Confirm the Default List Price, then run the channel price/quantity sync.

A markup rule is skipped for some SKUs. Seen where a 5% markup did not apply to a portion of SKUs. Check for a MAP floor or a locked price on those SKUs — MAP enforcement and PQS locks override the markup.

Listings not updating with a new price after a catalog change. Updating the catalog alone does not reprice live listings. Run the channel price/quantity sync to push the new values downstream.

What do Lowest, Highest, Average, and Sum mean? They are aggregation strategies across a variant's linked sources — available for price (Lowest, Highest, Average) and quantity (which adds Sum).

Why do I need to run a sync? Rule changes only apply on a variant's next price or quantity update. A sync recalculates all existing variants now instead of waiting for the next feed update.

What is the difference between markup, MSRP discount, and MAP enforcement? Markup adds a value to cost to derive price; an MSRP discount subtracts from MSRP; MAP enforcement raises the price to MAP whenever the computed price is lower.

Where does the Default List Price come from? It starts from the variant's estimated cost and can be mapped to MSRP, MAP, or a source list price instead.
