How bundles work

Kitting and bundling lets you combine multiple products into one. Bundles work by linking existing virtual products as components, ensuring dynamic management and availability across orders.

Behavior	How it works

Availability is capped by the lowest component

The bundle's availability is determined by the lowest available component. Example: if a bundle includes 10 gaming systems but only 2 games, bundle availability is limited to 2 - only two complete bundles can be fulfilled.

Creating a bundle (Bundle Generation Tool)

Creating a bundle groups multiple products from your catalog into a single offering, so you can sell them together as one unit. This streamlines inventory management and boosts sales by offering product combinations.

Step	Action
1	Switch to the Variants view under the Product Catalog tab (Products → Product Catalog → Actions → Other).
2	Select the Bundle Generation Tool option to create a bundle from products already listed in your catalog. The SKU and title represent the parent SKU and parent title.
3	Configure Options - the overall selections of the bundle (for example, "Game" and "Game System").
4	Configure Components - the specific selections for each option (for example, "Xbox" or "PS4" for the "Game System" option; "Minecraft" and "Mario" for the "Game" option).
5	Preview the variants. SKU and title for each variant are generated automatically from the parent SKU and title, and can be adjusted manually if needed.

Recommended setup method

The Bundle Generation Tool is the most recommended way to set up bundling, as it utilizes existing product data already in your catalog.

When weight calculations are available

Weight is calculated when all component variants have a weight unit and the weight isn't being pulled through the Bulk Bundle Product mapping template. Example: component 1 at 0.3 lbs + component 2 at 0.5 lbs gives a variant total weight of 0.8 lbs.

Creating bundles via Product Creation

You can also create bundles during the Product Creation process by selecting items from your catalog and bundling them together, managing options, components, and pricing into a single bundle product.

Step	Action
1	Go to Create Product (Products → Product Catalog → Actions → Other → Create Product).
2	Set up the Parent Product and define variants with their respective components.
3	When adding a new Variant, set up its Title, Identifiers, Options, Dimensions, and add the Component, then Create Variant. You can return to edit any variant at any point.
4	Back on the Parent Product, the additional Option Values included on each variant now appear, helping differentiate the combinations within the bundle.

Import Bundles (bulk upload)

Import Bundles let you upload and create multiple product bundles at once. Using a bulk import process, you can configure bundles with options, components, and pricing, saving time on manual setup. Go to the Product Catalog tab (Products → Product Catalog → Actions → IMPORT → Bundles) to begin.

To run the Bundle Upload, create a mapping template to map the data from your file - either via Create New Mapping Template under the Template field, or at Products → Product Catalog → Actions → IMPORT → Bundles. The mapping template has three main sections to map:

Once the mapping template is created:

4	Click Run Product Bundle Upload.

After the file is processed, the bundle(s) appear in the Product Catalog and a notification with the processing details is provided.

Ordering bundled items

Customers purchase the products grouped together as a single bundle. When a bundle is ordered, the individual items within it are automatically processed so all components are fulfilled and shipped. Keep these considerations in mind:

Stage	What happens
On the order	The bundled item appears on the order to associate it with the sales channel's order. The components of the bundled item are also displayed below it.
Fulfillment Requests / Orders	When generating Fulfillment Requests / Fulfillment Orders (FR/FOs), the bundled item uses the component SKUs to find associated source variants and FR/FOs.
Shipments	Shipments provided by the source fulfilling the fulfillment request/orders use the component SKUs.
Back to channel	Once a bundled item has been fully shipped, this information is passed back to the channel.
