Order Timeline
Summary
The Order Timeline is a chronological, newest-first history of every significant action on an order that also doubles as a comment thread for your team.
The Order Timeline is a chronological history of an order, shown newest first. It logs every significant action on the order and also works as a comment thread, so your team can see what happened and discuss it in one place.
- Data points — each action is logged with the action, user, timestamp, and any note.
- Comments — add notes to an order to collaborate with your team.
- Filters — switch between All, Order Activity, and Comments views.
- Notifications — new comments raise an alert until they are viewed.
| Field | Use |
|---|---|
| Action | The event, for example Order Created or Order Shipped. |
| User | The user (or System) that performed the action. |
| Timestamp | The date and time the action occurred. |
| Note | Optional additional context. |
- Newest events appear first — the timeline is ordered in reverse chronology, so the most recent action is at the top. Use Expand All to open the details on every data point at once.
- Only the author can delete a comment — a comment can only be deleted from the account that created it, using the trash can icon next to it.
- Notifications clear once viewed — when a comment is added, a notification icon appears for other users on the Order Timeline button and clears once the comment has been seen.
Limited recent ticket data for this topic. The one recurring theme is reading the sequence of events correctly.
The timeline seems to show a step out of order (for example Acknowledged before Processing)
Timeline entries are timestamped to the second, and closely spaced automated actions can look out of sequence at a glance. Open the data point details and compare the exact timestamps; when a shared source is involved, an action from another channel can land between your own steps.
How do I add a comment?
Open the Order Timeline, type into the comment field, and press Enter to save it to the timeline.
Who can delete a comment?
Only the account that created the comment can delete it, using the trash can icon.
What do the filters do?
All shows both actions and comments, Order Activity shows only order actions, and Comments shows only user comments. The view updates instantly.
