SKU Matching for Unmanaged Order Line Items
Summary
This article explains how Flxpoint matches unmanaged order line items to products in your Master Catalog, specifically addressing SKU case sensitivity and formatting.
When an order imports with line items that are not currently managed within Flxpoint (unmanaged items), the platform attempts to match the incoming SKU against your Master Catalog. This allows Flxpoint to link the order to a known product for inventory and fulfillment purposes.
Flxpoint uses a specific logic to identify matches between order line items and your catalog data:
- Case Sensitivity: SKU matching is case-insensitive. For example, a SKU imported as
t-shirt-001will successfully match a Master Catalog product with the SKUT-SHIRT-001. - Trigger: The process is triggered by an exact string match (ignoring case) between the incoming SKU from the sales channel and the SKU field in the Master Catalog.
- Normalization: While casing is ignored, other characters are not. Spaces, hyphens, and special characters must match exactly between the channel and Flxpoint.
If an unmanaged line item fails to link to a product, review the following requirements:
Check for hidden characters
Ensure there are no leading or trailing spaces in the SKU on the sales channel or within the Flxpoint Master Catalog. While sku123 matches SKU123, it will not match SKU123 (with a space).
Verify SKU formatting
Confirm that symbols like dashes or underscores are consistent. ABC-123 will not match ABC123.
Manual linking
If a match cannot be made automatically due to significant SKU differences, you may need to manually update the SKU on the sales channel or within the Flxpoint Master Catalog to ensure they align for future orders.
